ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST - ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

City of Clearwater

POSITION: Professional work of advanced difficulty and responsibility in the development and implementation of earth and/or natural sciences environmental programs within the City and its service area. Employees in this classification assist in the acquisition and/or renewal of regulatory permits for City facilities; oversee handling, sampling, storage, disposal and clean-up of hazardous materials; provide guidance regarding petroleum storage tanks and other environmental issues; assist City departments on assessment, remediation and monitoring; and, review plans for compliance with environmental regulations. Work is of a highly responsible nature and requires independent judgment and initiative.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field (Ecology, Civil Engineering), and two (2) years of professional experience in environmental sciences. Possession of a valid State of Florida driver license. Selected candidate must also have the ability to conduct independent studies, perform research and analysis, and prepare and present comprehensive reports.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE: Candidates will be evaluated based on a combination of their education, training, and experience. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in a panel interview session.

EXTENSION AGENT - AQUATICS (Kissimmee, Florida)

The UF/IFAS Osceola County Cooperative Extension Office has an opening for the Extension Faculty position. The individual will work on education and outreach regarding hydrilla and hygrophila and other aquatic weeds relating to the EPA Demonstration Project on Hydrilla and Hygrophila in the Upper Kissimmee Chain of Lakes.
